Colts’ Report

Undoubtedly, the long term future of any cricket club is dependent on running a successful colts section, and at CCWCC, we try to do just that.

Currently, we coach boys and girls from age 5-6 to 16 from 6.15pm onwards on Friday evenings (from late-April until mid-August) at our picturesque ground at High Road, Chipstead.

During 2013, we fielded sides in the East Surrey League and Cup at U9, U10, and U11, U12, U13, U14 & U17 level.

The team of the season was, without question, the U12’s (pictured). Under the expert guidance of former WCGSHead Boy (mid 80's) Simeon Milton, they were the winners oftheir League and runners-up in the Cup. There are some outstanding cricketers in that team, and hopefully they will maintain their drive and enthusiasm as they progress through the age groups. There are also a number of talented (Surrey & District) players within the other age groups.

In 2011, our U15's side were victors in their League and the Surrey Cup, and from that team, it is wonderful that 5 have progressed to play 1st XI League cricket, which is no mean feat considering the pedigree of that side at present.

Thoughts have already turned to 2014 and late April, when it will all begin once more. This season we hope to enter as many teams in the League and Cup competitions, and there maybe even some younger age groups entered.

We have several Grade 2 qualified coaches, as well as others currently working towards their qualifications.

Through the "Chance to Shine" program, they also attend several local schools, coaching children who may not have had the opportunity to play before.

CCWCC are always open to new members, so if your child wishes to come along, please feel free to turn up.

Of course we would also welcome new coaches and players.
